Tanzania Wildlife Safari Highlights
Tour Highlights
Explore Tanzania’s northern circuit Safari parks – first, in Lake Manyara National park, right at the edge of the great Rift Valley and the Ngorongoro Highlands. Then, explore the famous Ngorongoro Crater, an intact volcanic caldera home to many animals including the elusive rhino. From Ngorongoro you will head to Serengeti for 2 nights with plenty of time to explore the endless plains covered with wildlife. From Serengeti, you have the option to drive or fly back (flight cost not included) to Arusha area at the end of the safari. Depending on your wishes and the time of year, you may substitute Tarangire National Park for Lake Manyara or Serengeti (prices may vary up or down).

Safari Itinerary
Optional morning visit to a local primary school if they are open (donations of school supplies are most welcome, or we can facilitate buying & delivering school supplies purchased locally if desired). Drive from Arusha area about 2 hours to the edge of the great Rift Valley escarpment. Enjoy your first game drive in Lake Manyara National Park. Overnight in Karatu village at Bougainvillea Safari Lodge or their sister Country Lodge next door, or Octagon Lodge. For private or customized safaris, there are many upgraded/luxury options available for a price supplement.
After breakfast, depart early for the Ngorongoro Crater. The Crater is a world-famous destination that is not to be missed. Overnight at the same lodge again. If desired (admission fee is extra), visit a Maasai tribe village today or tomorrow.
Transfer to the Serengeti Plains, game drive en route. You will pass through the Ngorongoro Highlands before entering the Serengeti which means “endless plains”. Outcroppings of rocks and distant mountains provide contrast to the landscape, and acacia trees stand out against the skyline. Depending on time of year/season, availability, and possibly preferences, overnight at our classic safari camp set up in central, southern, or northern Serengeti. At times we may use Kisura or Kenzan tented safari camps, Ndutu Lodge, Lobo or Seronera Wildlife Lodges. For private or customized safaris, there are many upgraded/luxury options available for a price supplement.
Optional
Stop at a Masai boma (village) and/or Olduvai Gorge on the way (entrance fees apply).
Game drive the Serengeti ecosystem, with exact area depending on where the migration is located (certain times of year the game is outside park borders in Ngorongoro Conservation Area). Overnight at the same lodge or camp.
Drive back to Arusha area for evening/overnight flights home (earlier flights require you adding on a night in Arusha and flying out tomorrow). Or, if your budget allows, take a safari flight back from Serengeti to Arusha airport (extra cost).
